The meeting was chaired: on the part of Poland – by the Undersecretary of State, Ewa Lech, and on the part of Belarus – by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Subbotin.
During the meeting, they discussed the most important issues in Polish-Belarusian cooperation in the field of agriculture, including, in particular, the issues of trade, market access for agri-food products and expert cooperation between the Ministries of Agriculture of Poland and Belarus.
In addition, on the occasion of the meeting of the group, the Polish-Belarusian Agreement for combating rabies in the territory of Belarus in 2017 was signed. As both parties pointed out, participation of Belarus in combating rabies in free-living animals in the buffer zone along the border with Poland would bring a lot of positive effects for both countries.
During the stay in Poznań, the Belarusian delegation visited the stands of the Polish and Belarusian exhibitors present at the Polagra FOOD fair.
For Poland, Belarus is one of 14 priority countries in cooperation in the field of agriculture. The export value of Polish agri-food products to Belarus in 2016 was more than EUR 334 million. The major agri-food products exported to Belarus are apples.
